The Atlanta Braves Trainee Program is designed for applicants who are interested in beginning a career in professional sports. Each year the program hires individuals from around the nation with diverse backgrounds, who are ambitious, intelligent and creative, to work in a department from January to November. This opportunity provides valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional sports franchise. It not only gives the opportunity to work in a Front Office environment but also to build a network with those in the sports industry who can provide expert advice and possible connections for job opportunities upon completion of the program.

The Trainee Program is open to any qualified applicant who has a Bachelors or Master's degree. Trainees are expected to work at least 37.5 hours per week and may have additional game day responsibilities (depending on department assignments). The individuals who participate in this program are paid $9.50/hour, plus overtime if applicable, as well as are benefit-eligible after 60 days (medical, dental, vision).

Interested, qualified candidates may apply at from October 1st to October 15th each year. 

General requirements for all Trainee positions

  • College graduate, Bachelors or Masters
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Excellent executive presence
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must complete a successful background check

 Position description includes but is not limited to:

  • Support Guest Services Management with overall departmental responsibilities and initiatives
  • Assist in areas of gameday staff recruiting, hiring, training & recognition programs
  • Assist with managing the hospitality events and ambassador staff throughout the season
  • Replying to fan inquiries in person, writing and via telephone
  • Send Braves memorabilia to fans for special occasions
  • Manage distribution list for gameday staff & field surveys
  • Assist in ballpark improvements including but not limited to signage & staff areas
  • Edit Web pages & update gameday staff materials such as guidebooks and training resources
  • Distribute information & supplies for gameday staff
  • Assist with coordinating the Braves VIP Experience programs
  • Assist with event planning, set-up, and execution for gameday staff events throughout season
  • Design & print gameday credentials for all internal departments
  • Assist with management of Gameday Staff Store with staffing, inventory and store design opportunities

In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • College degree with an emphasis in Hospitality, Business, Communications, Human Resources, and/or Sports Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher & Outlook
  • Must be professional, flexible, a team player, detail-oriented, creative and capable to multitask & prioritize projects
  • Demonstrates initiative by proactively taking ownership of departmental processes
  • Experience with Archtics Ticketing System and/or Design Software a plus, but not required
  • Ability to work nights, holidays, weekends and extended hours
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Must complete a Background check
