The Atlanta Braves Trainee Program is designed for applicants who are interested in beginning a career in professional sports. Each year the program hires individuals from around the nation with diverse backgrounds, who are ambitious, intelligent and creative, to work in a department from January to November. This opportunity provides valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional sports franchise. It not only gives the opportunity to work in a Front Office environment but also to build a network with those in the sports industry who can provide expert advice and possible connections for job opportunities upon completion of the program.

The Trainee Program is open to any qualified applicant who has a Bachelors or Master's degree. Trainees are expected to work at least 37.5 hours per week and may have additional game day responsibilities (depending on department assignments). The individuals who participate in this program are paid $9.50/hour, plus overtime if applicable, as well as are benefit-eligible after 60 days (medical, dental, vision).

Interested, qualified candidates may apply at from October 1st to October 15th each year. 

General requirements for all Trainee positions

  • College graduate, Bachelors or Masters
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Excellent executive presence
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must complete a successful background check

 Position description includes but is not limited to:

  • Assist the Operations Manager with departmental responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring scheduling/ staffing for each location
  • Work with the movement of merchandise to the stores daily as a part of the pre-game prep, and during games as needed from store to store or from warehouse to store
  • Verify all locations have needed supplies (i.e, store bags, register paper, etc.)
  • Verify proper processing of merchandise transfers, and completion of related paperwork
  • Verify functionality of Retail Pro and Credit Cards
  • Work with supervisors to get the cash drawers to and from each location
  • Ability to fill in as necessary in a Game Day Retail position in the event of a sales associate being absent
  • Assist in merchandise presentation
  • Participate in Pre-Game Huddle
  • Assist the supervisors in the closing procedures including accounting for the deposits after each game
  • Assist the Operations Manager with merchandise vending during SunTrust Park concerts

In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proactive, organized and detail oriented person who can prioritize and follow through with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively and relate well with individuals of diverse backgrounds and within all levels of the company
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) proficiency
  • Able to work long hours, overtime, weekends and occasional holidays
  • Must complete a successful background check
