The Atlanta Braves Trainee Program is designed for applicants who are interested in beginning a career in professional sports. Each year the program hires individuals from around the nation with diverse backgrounds, who are ambitious, intelligent and creative, to work in a department from January to November. This opportunity provides valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional sports franchise. It not only gives the opportunity to work in a Front Office environment but also to build a network with those in the sports industry who can provide expert advice and possible connections for job opportunities upon completion of the program.

The Trainee Program is open to any qualified applicant who has a Bachelors or Master's degree. Trainees are expected to work at least 37.5 hours per week and may have additional game day responsibilities (depending on department assignments). The individuals who participate in this program are paid $9.50/hour, plus overtime if applicable, as well as are benefit-eligible after 60 days (medical, dental, vision).

General requirements for all Trainee positions

  • College graduate, Bachelors or Masters
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Excellent executive presence
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must complete a successful background check

 Position description includes but is not limited to:

  • Assist with planning and implementing Community Affairs and Braves Foundation programs and fundraisers as needed
  • Facilitate silent and online auctions on game nights and at special events
  • Manage 50/50 Raffle paperwork and "Reach Out, Be Our Guest" ticket donation program
  • Coordinate the department's entertainment requests
  • Support the department's outreach initiatives including Youth Baseball and softball tournaments, health awareness initiatives, community outreach programs and events
  • Manage database for in-kind donation requests, department mail, and internal requests
  • Manage matrix message program (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and VIP experiences

In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Multi-tasking skills a must
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 40-70 lbs
  • Courteous and prompt
  • Self-starter and proactive
  • Individual should be extremely organized
  • Creative thinker
  • Previous sports, PR, Community Relations, event management, non-profit or marketing experience would be a plus
