Position Overview:  The Atlanta Braves are seeking an experienced Internal Audit or Controls specialist to be responsible for a hybrid role supporting internal audit, SOX, Compliance, and process improvement.  This individual will also serve as a liaison between the accounting staff and external auditors. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support our Parent's internal audit function – role will dotted line report into Director, IA at the Parent
  • Implement and monitor SOX controls
  • Provide support for internal audits
  • Act as a liaison between external auditors, including, but not limited to financial audit and MLB audit
  • Monitor action plans to remediate control issues
  • Support the implementation of process improvements or best practices
  • Design appropriate controls in the implementation of a new ERP system
  • Align with the Associate General Counsel (Compliance) and support the Compliance Committee
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 4+ years internal audit, external audit, or accounting/controls experience 
  • BS or BBA in accounting required, CPA required
  • Strong experience in US GAAP, Financial Statement preparation, and SOX requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of audit policies, practices, systems
  • Thorough understanding of Sarbanes Oxley legislation and PCAOB Standard #5
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex information
  • Ability to work under pressure, both independently and in collaboration with others, in order to meet deadlines
  • Participate in process improvement and productivity projects to drive continuous improvement in the accounting functional area through documentation, cross-training and automation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills
